You got over 40 and you're attracted to skating? You're at the best time to start!
Yeah, you read it right. If you've been through the '40s and you're curious about skating (or you want to take it back after years), you're in the right place. Skating online is a great way to take care of your health, move freely and have fun.
Patinate after 40? Of course!
More and more adults decide to get some skates, and it's no coincidence. Online skating combines cardiovascular exercise, balance, coordination and fun. And all that without crushing joints like other more aggressive sports.
According to Harvard Medical School, skating can burn between 420 and 588 calories per hourdepending on the rhythm and body weight. It is a very complete activity, and the best: low impact.
5 real skating benefits from the 40
1. Improves cardiovascular health
It helps to reduce blood pressure, improve circulation and strengthen the cardiovascular system. All with a progressive effort and adapted to your rhythm.
2. Strengthen legs, glutes and abdomen
During the skating, you work quadriceps, ischiotyhobials, glutes and the middle area of the body, fundamental to maintain good posture and prevent back pains.
3. Less impact on joints
Unlike running, the fluid skating movement generates less pressure on knees and ankles. Ideal if you want to move without injury.
4. Improved balance and coordination
From the 40s, the balance begins to deteriorate if it is not trained. Skating is an excellent way to keep it active, in a fun and functional way.
5. Reduces stress and improves mood
Outdoor skating helps release tensions. In addition, being a physical activity, it stimulates the release of endorphins, the known “hormones of happiness”.

A study conducted by Dr. Carl Foster, associate professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin and sports medicine coordinator for the American speed skating team, compared the online skating with running and cycling.
Online skating not only burns a significant amount of calories, but also offers aerobic and anaerobic benefits comparable to those of other activities. In addition, it was observed that online skating strengthens key muscles such as glutes, quadriceps and hip muscles, which is especially beneficial for older adults seeking to improve their muscle balance and strength.
In summary
Online skating is an excellent choice to stay active, strengthen the body and have fun, have the age you have. And if you're in your 40s or more... you're in a big time to start!
